Colours represent estimated precipitation over each six-hour period. Rain and snow are shown separately, although the transition zone can shift as lower-atmosphere temperatures change.

  • Darker blue areas indicate a larger estimated rainfall total during the selected six-hour period.
  • White markings represent forecast snowfall, not the total snow depth already lying on the ground.
  • Mountain and coastal terrain can create sharp local differences that a forecast grid cannot fully resolve.
