How to read this map
Colours represent estimated precipitation over each six-hour period. Rain and snow are shown separately, although the transition zone can shift as lower-atmosphere temperatures change.
- Darker blue areas indicate a larger estimated rainfall total during the selected six-hour period.
- White markings represent forecast snowfall, not the total snow depth already lying on the ground.
- Mountain and coastal terrain can create sharp local differences that a forecast grid cannot fully resolve.
Using the map
Move along the timeline and select a point to view separate rain and snowfall values for that forecast period.
Important note: This is model guidance, not live weather radar or an official warning. Follow the competent authorities when severe weather is expected.
