Methodology

A clear account of sources, update timing, calculations and the limits of weather forecasting.

From models to the screen

Core forecasts are retrieved through Open-Meteo services. Depending on the product, the service uses or exposes output from numerical models such as ECMWF, ICON and GFS. e-meteo does not run these global models and does not alter original observations. It organises values, converts units and builds readable hourly and daily views.

Updates and temporary caching

Live data loads when a visitor opens the page, and a genuine last-update time is shown where available. Temporary caching reduces duplicate calls to external providers. Its duration depends on the service and stays below the useful lifetime of the corresponding forecast.

Combined forecast and longer-range outlook

The combined forecast compares available models and summarises their agreement. It is not a new numerical model. Days 11–15 and 16–35 are shown as a trend because uncertainty grows and does not support the detail appropriate for tomorrow’s forecast.

Marine, atmospheric and specialist services

Marine variables, air quality, pollen, UV, historical data and indicative river discharge come from separate open services. Each section identifies its source and limitations. Activity or risk scores calculated by e-meteo are guidance tools and do not replace official instructions.

Quality controls

Incomplete or physically implausible values are rejected where technically possible, and failures of external services are shown without inventing data. Major changes are checked on mobile and desktop together with canonical URLs, hreflang, structured data and accessibility.
