Data sources and licences

The actual providers used by e-meteo, what each dataset represents and where its limitations matter.

Forecast and ensemble data

Core hourly and daily forecasts are retrieved through Open-Meteo. Where a page allows model comparison or combined forecasting, outputs may include ECMWF IFS/AIFS, DWD ICON, NOAA GFS, GEM and UK Met Office data exposed through the relevant API. Availability and forecast range vary by model.

Marine, air-quality and historical products

The Open-Meteo Marine API supplies modelled wave and sea variables. Air-quality, dust, pollen and European AQI products are delivered through the Open-Meteo Air Quality API and are model estimates, not a sensor at the visitor’s exact position. Historical and climate sections use Open-Meteo historical services based on reanalysis datasets.

Satellite and map layers

Satellite imagery and derived products may come from NASA GIBS and EUMETSAT EUMETView. Base maps and geographical labels use OpenStreetMap data, while Greek boundaries use open administrative boundary datasets. Each map carries the appropriate visible attribution.

Flood, airport and specialist data

Indicative river discharge uses the Open-Meteo Flood API with GloFAS. Airport observations use public METAR reports from NOAA AviationWeather.gov. Official warning feeds are kept visually separate from e-meteo’s automated guidance.

Licensing and transformation

Provider terms and attribution requirements remain in force. e-meteo may convert units, round values, group time steps, cache responses temporarily and create plain-language summaries. These transformations do not turn a model forecast into an observation or an official warning.
